Ceramic withdrawable heating elements are designed for heating gases, liquids, and solids such as wax and lead. The elements consist of a heating wire embedded within a ceramic material that provides insulation and heat distribution. These elements can be easily removed from their pipe without draining the container they are heating, making them convenient for applications where substances may solidify when unheated.
To customise a ceramic withdrawable element, the following specifications must be provided: diameter, total length, length of the cold end (CE), power, supply voltage, single or three-phase, and horizontal or vertical mounting. The elements can be installed either horizontally or vertically, depending on the requirements. For vertical mounting, special construction is needed to prevent sagging of the heating spiral inside the element grooves.
It is important to ensure that the pipe dimensions have a 1-2mm tolerance between the pipe’s inner diameter and the ceramic element’s outer diameter for easy removal and efficient heat transfer. A heat-resistant stainless steel is the preferred material for the pipe. Allowing access to the pipe from both ends is a good practice to facilitate debris removal when elements are replaced.
