Capacitance Level Switches

Capacitance level switches are liquid level sensor that uses the principle of capacitance to detect the presence or absence of a liquid at a particular level. It consists of two electrodes: an active electrode and a reference electrode. The output of the capacitance level switch is a relay that can be configured to be normally open or normally closed, depending on the wiring polarity. The submersible polypropylene liquid level sensor is designed to be used with corrosive liquids and can be mounted inside the tank or through non-metallic tank walls. It is rated for a range of temperatures and pressures, and is classified as a general-purpose device, compliant with CE standards. This capacitance level switch is designed to detect water-based conductive liquids with light coating, crystallizing, or scaling characteristics, such as copper sulphate and brine. The RF guard circuit eliminates the coating signal path between the active and reference electrodes to optimize performance in coating type media.

• The capacitance level switch operates on a supply voltage of 12-36 VDC and has a maximum power consumption of 25 mA
• The accuracy of the capacitance level switch is ±1mm in water
• The repeatability of the capacitance level switch is ±0.5mm in water
• The dielectric range of the capacitance level switch is greater than 20 constants
• The conductive range of the capacitance level switch is greater than 100 μ
• The capacitance level switch has a single-pole, single-throw (SPST) relay contact with a rating of 60 VA and 1A maximum
• The contact output of the capacitance level switch is selectable between normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) based on the wiring polarity, providing flexibility in how it is used in the control system
• The capacitance level switch is rated for a wide range of temperatures and pressures, making it suitable for use in harsh environments where the liquid being measured may be subject to extreme conditions
• The sensor body and cable of the capacitance level switch are made of polypropylene, which is a highly resistant material for use with corrosive liquids. The cable is a 4-conductor, shielded #22 AWG with a length of 10′ (3m)
• The capacitance level switch has a process mount of 3/4″ NPT (3/4″ G) and is compatible with a Switch-Pak fitting for vertical tank installation
• The capacitance level switch is classified as a general-purpose device and is compliant with CE standards, ensuring that it meets safety and quality requirements for use in various applications
