Butterfly valves

Butterfly valves are essential components in a wide array of industries due to their versatility, ease of operation, and cost-effectiveness. These valves are designed to regulate or isolate the flow of fluids and operate by rotating a disc or “butterfly” within the valve body.

Different designs such as centric (or concentric), single offset, double offset, and triple offset butterfly valves offer varying degrees of flow control, sealing ability, and durability. Centric designs are commonly used for low-pressure applications, while eccentric designs reduce wear and improve sealing, making them suitable for higher pressure and temperature applications.

Many butterfly valves also come with specific features for certain applications, such as inflatable seals for better shut-off or pinless designs for fewer leak paths. Some butterfly valves are even tailored to handle specific types of media or environments, with materials and linings resistant to corrosive or aggressive fluids.

Brand-specific butterfly valves may come with additional features or certifications that enhance their performance or extend their applicability. The right choice of butterfly valve depends on the specific service conditions, including the type of fluid, operating pressure and temperature, and desired control accuracy.

Application features:

  • Versatility: Suitable for a broad range of applications, from water and gas supply to process industries.
  • Easy Operation: Quick operation with a 90-degree turn of the handle or actuator.
  • Variety of Designs: Available in centric, single, double, and triple offset designs for different sealing and flow control requirements.
  • Size Range: Available in a wide range of sizes to accommodate different pipe dimensions and flow rates.
  • Pressure Handling: Capable of handling a wide range of pressures, from low to high.
  • Temperature Resistance: Certain designs can withstand high temperatures, making them suitable for applications like steam supply or high-temperature process lines.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Materials and linings are available for handling corrosive or aggressive fluids.
  • Leakage Control: Designs such as inflatable seals or double/triple offset provide better shut-off, reducing leakage.
  • Durability: Some designs offer high cycle life and lower maintenance needs.
