Where most applications would fail, this contactless and wear-free position measuring system uses a movable magnet to determine position based on the Wiedemann effect and Villari effect. A huge variety of sizes and shapes for this sensor can be arranged to suit your most practical needs.
A current is created through the positional sensor’s wave guide signal which generates a circular magnetic field around the wave guide using the Wiedemann effect. As a result of magnetostriction, the torsional mechanical-elastic density wave is triggered when the circular magnetic field propagates around the wave guide. This wave propagates in the wave guide at approximately 2800 m/s. The sensor head detects the arrival of this wave in its time difference and is converted into analog or digital output signals.
With a measurement range of up to 5750mm, the Magnetostrictive linear measuring sensor is constructed as a square, ultra-flat, rounded or cylindrical profile which are able to suite any environment and situation. Some sensors are designed for underwater capability and can be seawater-proof.
