Condensate pots, also known as condensate chambers or seal pots, are used in steam and other vapor systems to separate the main line from the secondary instruments and prevent contamination from condensate and foreign material. They are available in different materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel with different coatings and are typically 2″ to 6″ in size with NPT or welded connections. They are installed vertically or horizontally between the primary flow meter and the secondary transmitter/gauge to act as a barrier to the line fluid. The level of condensate in the pot should be equal to the total volume of condensate in the transmitter and the sensing lines to minimize error. Maintenance includes draining and filling the pot as necessary. The required information for a quote includes pipe size, pipe schedule, material of construction, style, number of taps, and quantity. Condensate pots are commonly used in refineries, power plants, chemical and petrochemical plants, and other process industries.
